Old School Flow
Learn my signature style of Old School Pole Dance and the art of dancing in heels!
You will learn smooth sequences of low flow and basework, including my classic OG-movements. There will be attention to lines, extension and getting the most out of your heels.
As well as this, I will share wisdom and prompts to help you to access another understanding of embodiment and sensuality; after all, Old School style is so much more than putting on heels and moving slowly.
The goal is that you will leave this workshop with an understanding of how to utilize your heels effectively, not only as a beautiful accessory, but as a tool for creating flow and seamless transitions with the pole. You will also be encouraged to combine all of the above together into a short sequence with a focus on owning your unique style and interpretation of the skills learned, honouring your heels and all that they represent without being bound to binary notions of what is or isn’t sensual.
Because technique is something I am geekily passionate about, we will begin the workshop by quickly covering the anatomy of your heels, as well as ankle strengthening exercises, to help you to understand how to control your movement and balance. From here, it’s easier to melt into a state of flow once you know you are sturdy and safe on your platforms. You will also learn about how to include active flexibility and extension in your dancing, so that you can become stronger and more flexible every time you dance: win-win!
You will need pole dance specific heels (such as Pleasers) for this session, preferably sandals.
Thick leg warmers or knee pads are also recommended, as well as your pole shorts!
You can rock up to this session in full sparkly regalia or you can show up in a hoodie; no judgment for how you’re dressed.
